Hydrotherapy is a form of aquatic therapy in a heated swimming pool under the guidance of an experienced physiotherapist.
Exercising in water relieves muscle tension, reduces swelling, assists to strengthen muscles and improves a person’s ability to walk and move more freely than on land.
Hydrotherapy sessions are conducted in local swimming pools and leisure centres with warm water pools.
Manual handling training for carers and support staff ensures a participant's safety and individual needs are prioritised during all activities of daily living. A participant's physiotherapy funding can be allocated for this service.
We also offer organisation-wide training and assessment, to support staff and carers to confidently use safe manual handling practices. This assists in maintaining safety of participants and reducing staff injuries. Please note that centre-wide training must be funded separately from a participant's NDIS plan.
Training covers:
• Manual Handling definitions and hazardous characteristics
• Manual Handling injuries and causes
• Back care and injury prevention
• Minimal-lift policy
• Safe lifting principles
• Safe transfers
• Facility specific equipment (e.g. lifting hoists, ceiling hoists, standing hoists, slide sheets)
• Non-clinical manual handling hazards
• Risk assessment and management principles
• Competency assessments for clinical staff
Please contact us for more information about manual handling training for your organisation.
As part of physiotherapy assessment and treatment, your therapist will complete a detailed written report to the NDIS or relevant funding body with recommendations regarding ongoing therapy and external supports.
We pride ourselves on our communication skills and know that listening to our participants is key to understanding their needs and aspirations, enabling us to provide a high quality service.
